Locals in Sarasota looking for a unique way to enjoy the city should check out what is right in their stomping grounds. Sometimes overlooked, these 5 local favorites are quick to please and are located just blocks from the city center. 1. Massimo Meda Art Galley

World-renowned artist Massimo Meda chose downtown Sarasota to break into the North American market with is modern technique and style. Meda, who has two galleries in Italy and two in China, brings his he three-dimensional masterpieces to Pineapple Avenue and has introduced 63 original works including a towering creation of the Florida pier to amplify his move to the Sunshine State. Meda blurs the lines of between painting and sculptures with his hyper-realistic seascapes and floral panoramas.

2. Marie Selby Botanical Gardens; Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium

Long time Sarasota favorites, Marie Selby Botanical Gardens and Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium give local resident members the opportunity to experience the beauty of Southern Florida. Mote is constantly updating its attractions and recently opened an exhibit featuring three new otters while Selby will be opening an exhibit in August showcasing rare botany books and prints that date back as far as the 1700's.

3. CircuSoul Aerial Yoga Class

Have you ever dreamed of flying through the air like Pink at one of her concerts or a circus performer twisting and turning weightlessly way above the crowd? Well you can too, sort of. You can learn the basics at CircuSoul Aerial Yoga Class. This all levels studio combines weightless freedom of aerial tricks and yoga poses to give its customers a one-of-a-kind experience. Every participant receives a special "aerial hammock" and the studio provides the mats.

4. The Florida Studio Theatre

A true gem of downtown Sarasota, The Florida Studio Theatre has been providing entertainment to the masses since 1973. The village of theatres encompasses five different stages including the historic Keating and Gompertz Theaters. Each theatre is small in size but large in impact, providing an intimate and engaging setting for high-quality professional performances. Currently performing on the mainstage is the hilarious The God of Issac while The GiGi's occupies the cabaret stage. To go along with the terrific seasons every year, the Florida Studio Theatre hosts an improve stage every Saturday night at 7:30.

5. Liquid Blue Outfitters Kayak Tour

Located just a short drive away on the south end of Lido Key, the Liquid Blue Outfitters Kayak Tour takes kayakers through secluded mangrove tunnels that host an array of wildlife. These quiet, calm waterways are very reliable places to see a variety of birds and sea life such as dolphins and manatees. 6. The Promenade
