Key Culinary Tours Expands Sarasota Lineup to Include Farmer's Market & Southside Village

Living in downtown Sarasota is unlike any other place on earth. The fabulous walkable lifestyle is constantly evolving as innovative entrepreneurs find new ways to celebrate the rich history, deep appreciation for the arts and culinary delights. For future residents of The Mark Sarasota located in the central core of the downtown district, the culinary tours will provide another exciting opportunity to explore the vibrant neighborhood. It's another "must do" for homeowners in the city's newest luxury condominium community by Kolter Urban.

Key Culinary Tours is the ultimate way to experience Sarasota's rich history and culinary arts. It's a fun-filled adventure that combines fine cuisine and a unique, intimate peek into the rich history of the city. Susan Robinson, founder and CEO, started the tours in January after going on a culinary tour in the Little Havana neighborhood of Miami. Having worked as a concierge for 14 years, she knew a culinary tour would do well in St. Armand's Circle, where over the course of the three-hour tours, guides talk about the history of the circle and the food.

Key Culinary Tours recently announced that in late October, they'll be expanding the tours to include one for the art galleries on Palm Avenue, the downtown farmer's market and the Southside Village restaurants. The Village tour will highlight international foods such as Indian, French, Cuban and Asia-Pacific.

While the farmer's market tour is still being organized, the concept will allow guests to shop at the weekend market before making their own lunch. A chef would help pick out produce before preparing lunch with them. "We just want people to experience the greater city of Sarasota," she said. "I hope our guests find the culinary tours to be a fun outing, and they enjoy in our little neck of the world.

The new tours will be in addition to three popular routes already established and operating. Experienced tour guides share their knowledge of the culture and tradition while introducing guests to a handful of specially selected restaurants for a memorable event and some gourmet treats:

  • Art Gallery Walking Tour: Visit five esteemed art galleries on historic Palm Avenue. All tours are with a trained guide and include a food and drink stop. Food, drinks, history, and art-- what's not to love about this adventure!
  • St. Armand's Lunch Tour: The flagship lunch tour begins in the center of St. Armands Circle. Removed from the hustle and bustle of the mainland separated by Sarasota Bay, St. Armands' unique history and tropical beauty provides an unforgettable experience for natives and visitors from all over the world. The tour offers the opportunity to learn about this special area and taste some of the finest cuisine imaginable.
  • Happy Places Tour: Nothing says relaxation, vacation, or staycation like a few sips on sophisticated St. Armands Circle! During this light and leisurely tour, guests will have the opportunity to taste a variety of specially selected spirits and sample a little of each venue's most popular fare. The fun-loving and entertaining guides share their insights about the difference between the "wets" and the "drys," as well as how hard Florida was to manage during Prohibition given it's 1,000 miles of vast coastline.

Guests are encouraged to wear comfort casual attire and comfortable walking shoes (guests will walk about 1 mile on flat surfaces) Included: All food and restaurant gratuities; water is provided at each stop but guests may purchase alternative beverages separately. Tours run rain or shine! For more information on the Key Culinary Tours, click here. A second option is also available to visitors, Sarasota Culinary Tours, however, they are on hiatus until December.
