Ringling International Arts Festival Sends Flips into Sarasota

With daring audacity and riveting virtuosity, performers from across America and around the world are coming to Sarasota for the innovative, inventive, and exhilarating Ringling International Arts Festival.

From the "down under" antics of Australian acrobats, to the "over the top" brilliance of internationally-acclaimed musicians, actors, and dancers, the 2016 Ringling International Arts Festival is your opportunity to experience the outrageously sublime, the profoundly surreal, and even the hilariously catastrophic.

All of the entertainment will begin at the opening ceremony at the Museum of Art on October 13 for a celebration of music, dance and mystique of Brazilian culture. Other highlights of the 2016 RIAF will be hilarious yet beautiful show of Hapless Bizarre & Mo(or)town Redux, which tells the story of Shakespeare's Othello set to a Motown Score, and the Grammy award winning sextet Eighth Blackbird: Hand Eye. Also performing will be Matt Haimmovitz: The Bach Suites, Gravity & Other Myths: A Simple Space, and Thaddeus Phillips: 17 Border Crossings.

Sarasota has always been known for its "big top legacy" with John and Mabel Ringling as one of the area's founding residents. Sarasota is home to the Ringling Museum of Art, the Circus Museum and the Ringling College of Art & Design. Sarasota's popularity is often attributed to its reputation as a mecca for the arts.

As more and more empty nesters discover the vibrant lifestyle of this exciting coastal town, the demand for real estate in the downtown area has surged. Like many baby boomers across the nation, many area homebuyers are seeking walkable neighborhoods where the fun begins with leaving the car at home.
